Northbrook is a popular place for dog owners. Where there are more dogs, however, there is also often a greater need for dog trainers. Marc Goldberg is a Certified Dog Trainer (CDT), whose gentle, force and bribe free method of training has actually changed the way other dog trainers outside of Northbrook teach dogs. Reasons to Call a Northbrook Dog Trainer

Dogs are animals. Their instinct is to chew, to jump, and to bark. Some dogs have issues with aggression and anxiety. Others have issues with listening and responding to requests. It's natural for dogs to exhibit behaviors that are outside what you were hoping for when you decided to bring a dog into your home.

But dogs are more than happy to learn how to behave. They just need someone to teach them. Dog training in Northbrook can help make sure that your dog shows the behaviors that help it become a more welcome and happy member of the household. But in order to start that training, you have to understand animal behavior and learn the techniques that are most likely to create long lasting change.

With our dog training services in Northbrook, you will be able to successfully teach your dog the right behaviors in the right way – all with no force and no need for complicated and unnatural clicker training strategies.

Why Work with Marc Goldberg and Chicago Dog Trainer?

Marc, along with his partner Patrick Farrell, has already worked with many pet families in Northbrook and would love a chance to meet and train your pet as well. Marc is the co-author of a nationally popular dog training book titled "Let Dogs Be Dogs," which has changed the way that many pet owners and dog trainers address pet related behaviors.

We have several programs available for those that have interest in learning more about dog training. Some of our dog training options include:

  • One-on-One Training – Our Pack Leader programs are private consultations between our team, you, and your dog (although you can invite other family if you like!). We teach you the techniques, begin training your dog, and then let you take the improvements home with you for further training. We have private programs for you and your dog, programs for puppies, and more.
  • Boarding School – Whenever you leave for a trip, you probably board your pet. Our boarding school program goes a step further. You drop your pet off with us for 1, 2, or 3 weeks, and when the time frame is done you pick up your dog and let us show you how to keep the behavioral change going at home.

Our longer boarding schools and "boot camps" are also a great choice for those that have more difficult behavioral issues, such as dog aggression or dog anxiety. We make sure that your dog is ready to be a happy member of your family, and you take a better behaved dog home with you.

Dogs are unique. They are both animals and family members. They are loved like someone's own children, but they also need to be cared for as animals, because they have natural instincts and needs that are distinct from the way humans behave.

You love your pet. Let us make sure your pet is able to adapt to the needs of the home. Give us a call today at 1-224-407-2131 for a behavioral consultation, and we’ll talk to you about what options are available and how to best make sure that your dog is ready to be a more welcome member of the family. We can travel to your location in Northbrook for our one on one services, or you can come to our Little Dog Farm for training or boarding school. We can't wait to hear from you and meet your little dog.

FAQ About Northbrook Dog Training

Q: Do You Work With All Dog Breeds?

A: Yes. Any dog breed, we're happy to talk to you about our services and provide it with the care and attention it needs.

Q: How Long is Dog Boot Camp?

A: We have three programs, each designed for different types of behaviors. If your dog has more severe behavioral issues, we might recommend the 2 or 3 week programs. If you simply want someone to start training your dog and then "hand over the keys" so to speak to you, the one or two week programs are enough. We are more than happy to talk to you about these different options at any time.

Our Philosophy & Goals

Our philosophy is simple. Improve the life of both dog and family. All too often, unruly dogs do not fully enjoy life because their families constantly become upset and frustrated with them. This is difficult for both family and dog.

Our mission is simple. Make both dog and family happy.

What does is take to make your dog happy? He will thrive when you give him leadership and attention.

Making the family happy is a bit more complex.

Families typically want their dog to:

  • Come when called, every time, on or off leash
  • Walk nicely on a loose leash without pulling
  • Sit until released
  • Down until released

Families also want their dogs:

  • Not to jump on people
  • Not to charge through doors
  • Not to dig in the garden
  • Not to bark and chew  inappropriately
  • Not to climb on furniture you prefer they avoid
  • Not to sniff and eat off the table and counters.
  • Not to be wild and uncontrollable
  • Not to ignore you when you want their attention
