Why is it So Important to Have a Trained Dog in Chicago of All Places?

It doesn’t matter where you live. Everyone needs a trained dog. When a dog is trained, they become a more productive member of the family. Not only does this make the family happier, but it also makes the dog happier, as dogs want to be accepted members of the pack, and they want to feel like you love and appreciate them with positive attention.

No matter where you live, a trained dog is a happier dog – and a happier dog owner. But, here in Chicago, where we at Chicago Dog Trainer are located, there are some very specific reasons that you might want to make sure that your dog is highly trained. These include, but are not limited to:

More Dog Friendly – to a Point

Chicago has never been called the most dog friendly city, but it is still quite dog friendly. That is both an advantage and a problem. There are more dog friendly places to be, which means that more places to take your dog, but if your dog is not well behaved, Chicago is not SO dog friendly that you have plenty of space for your dog to run around and be free. You have to make sure that your dog is trained enough to be near you at all times so that you can then enjoy all the dog friendly places.

Lots of Places to Go/See

With that in mind, the Greater Chicago area is massive. This is definitely not a city where your dog is just going to want to stay home and run around in your yard – if you even have a yard. That means that your dog is likely going with you places, which also means they need to be as well behaved as possible.

Illinois Dangerous Dog Laws

Illinois, unfortunately, has some very tough “Dangerous Dog” laws. Dogs do not need to attack someone to be considered a dangerous dog. They can simply scare someone and it can cause problems. If your dog has issues with aggression, for example, or your dog is a breed that people feel is aggressive, not training your dog may put your pet at risk.

Anecdotally, there seem to be more dogs out there than ever, and that means more opportunities for doggy play dates and other dog-related experiences. Now is a great time to have more fun with your pet and get to know other pet owners! But it all starts with a trained dog.
